PDF teilen: what it does and how to use it
PDF split takes one PDF and either extracts a continuous page range or breaks every page into its own file. Extracting a range is what you want for “send pages 4 through 7.” Splitting every page is what you want when each page must be a separate document, packed as a ZIP.
Drop a PDF and the tool reads how many pages it has, still inside the browser. In range mode you set a From page and a To page, then download one smaller PDF. In split-all mode each page becomes its own PDF inside a ZIP so you are not saving dozens of files by hand.
The page numbers you type are the PDF’s own page indexes, starting at 1 for the first page. They are not the printed page numbers in a footer, which might start at i, or at 12, or skip a cover. Count from the first page of the file if the footer and the file disagree.
How to use it
- 1
Drop one PDF
The panel shows the file name, size, and page count once the document loads.
- 2
Choose a mode
Extract range downloads one PDF of the pages you name. Split all pages (ZIP) makes a separate PDF for every page.
- 3
Set the range if you are extracting
From and To are inclusive. Page 3 to page 3 gives you a one-page PDF. The fields cannot go past the page count.
- 4
Split and download
Click Split & download. A range saves one PDF. Split-all saves a ZIP of single-page PDFs.
Good uses
- Pulling a signature page or a single exhibit out of a long contract.
- Sending a classmate only the assigned chapter.
- Breaking a scan into one file per page so each page can be renamed.
- Removing a cover by extracting everything after page 1.
Tips
- If you need pages 1–2 and also pages 9–10, extract those ranges separately. This tool takes one continuous range per run.
- Use split-all when you are unsure which page is which, then keep the ZIP entries you need.
- Merge is the reverse operation: extract pieces here, then combine them with other files on the PDF merge tool.
- A password-protected file has to be opened by the browser. If the page count never appears, the PDF is locked or damaged.
Limits to know
- One PDF at a time, and one continuous range. Non-contiguous pages need more than one extract.
- Split-all gives you a ZIP, not a folder that appears automatically. Unzip it after download.
- The tool does not OCR scans, rotate pages, or delete a page in place. Extract the pages you want to keep.
Questions
Does “From 2 To 4” include page 4?+
Yes. Both ends are included, so that range is pages 2, 3, and 4.
Where do the files go?+
Your browser downloads them. The PDF is not uploaded to a server to be split.
Can I split by chapter bookmarks?+
No. The split follows page numbers you type, or every page. Bookmarks are not read.
Why is the ZIP full of tiny PDFs?+
That is split-all mode. Switch to Extract range if you wanted one file with several pages.
